Blues Control
Queens, NY based Blues Control are the duo of Lea Cho and Russ Waterhouse. Their work, released on seminal contemporary underground labels such as Siltbreeze, Fusetron or Holy Mountain, is characterized by spaced out church-lady keyboard patterns and aggro-spectral electric guitar, done in rock vocabularies and possessing metrics that belong solely to the realm of freedom and singularity. Their pieces, really well measured pictures of color & discontent-saturated fuzz, sound like they’re somewhere neither here on earth nor there in the outer realms of space (&beyond). They seem to exist on their own sphere of feeling, altercating between the most particular lulls and the mightiest of pentatonic anthems. All pure warmness, intimacy and total sonic independence, the guys put their guitars, synths and old vintage analog gear for some of the most unique and wonderful music coming out of the US underground (or any other place) in the past decade.
